Azarja "the Name"
Azarja
The trade name Azarja comes from the Hebrew book of Daniel, which is part of the Bible.
The book describes a number of impressive stories about Daniel and his three friends, one of whom is Azarja. These four Hebrew friends lived in the 6th century BC during the Babylonian exile. The King of Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar, conquered parts of Israel during that period and took the inhabitants to Babylon.
The king of Babylon had himself assisted by numerous advisors. He also wanted some men from the group of exiles who had been taken away from Israel in his team. In the book of Daniel 1:4 we read the selection criteria.
So Daniel and Azarja, among others, came to work as advisors at the king’s court. We read in Daniel 1:20 that in all matters concerning wisdom and insight, the king found them ten times better than all other advisors.
The secret of their success can be read in Daniel 1:17. It was God who gave them supernatural knowledge and wisdom. Azarja means “God is my helper”. When God is your helper, nothing is impossible. When God is your helper, it gives peace “even when things seem to go against you”.
The king is impressed by his new advisors and sees the supernatural hand of God through their insights. He says: “Your God is the God of gods and the Lord of kings. He reveals mysteries, so that you could reveal this mystery”.
